Sanskrit Name	:	Devadaru
Latin Name	:	Cedrus deodar (Roxb)Loud.
Habitat	:	Occurs in north-west Himalayas from Kashmir to Garhwal. Forests of Deodar found in Kashmir,Kulu,Chamba,Tehri-Garhwal,Simla,Chakrata,Almora and Mussoorie hill stations.
Morphology	:	It is ever green tree growing upto 80 m with a brood trunk.
Leaves	:	Slender,dark green with wavy margins.
Flowers	:	Green,yellow and appear in clusters.
Fruit	:	Ripe fruit is balck having seed 1 cm long.
Bark	:	Thick and fissured at places.
Wood	:	Oily,aromatic.Sapwood White And Heartwood Light Yellowish-brown Or Brown. The tree bears new fruits in October,which ripe within a year. This tree has a long life having life span of 600 years.

Varieties & adulterants

There is a another variety called Sarala Devdaru which is identified with Pinus longifolio but both are 2 different plants.
