Sanskrit Name : Kumari
Latin Name : Aloe vera
Habitat : Cultivated throughout India.
Morphology: A Perennial plant with a short stem.
Leaves : 30-60 cm long,erect,crowded in a basal rosette,juicy,glaucous-green,
narrow,lanceolate,long acuminate,margins with spiny teeth.
Flowers : Yellow,in dense racemes terminating the scapes.
Juice : Fresh juice is obtained by crushing the white pulp of green
leaves,It is sticky liquid of golden yellow colour.
Dried juice : Aloes - solid mass of irregular shape and different
sizes,dark chocolate to black colour,
surface hard,opaque with slightly vitreous appearance.
Flowers and Fruit : At the end of winter.

1)  Sacrotine    : Imported from Zanzibar and ports of the Red sea.
2)  Arabian
3)  Jaffarabadi
4)  Maisuri
